Time4Learning Program

The Tifton Housing Authority is sponsoring a Time4Learning Reading Program to benefit children ages 0-9 and their families.

The Time4Learning program focuses on improving children’s reading skills, while providing an opportunity for parents or caregivers to spend quality time bonding with their child.

Children ages 0-9 are encouraged to participate along with parents, older siblings, grandparents or caregivers who will read aloud with the child.

There will be books and incentives provided for those children who actively participate. The goal of the program is for children to read aloud 20 minutes per day and comprehend what they have read.

The program helps prepare children for reading on or above the required level in the classroom, positioning them for academic success. The program also encourages children to become independent readers.

On Monday and Tuesday afternoons from 4:30pm to 6:00pm, the Tifton Housing Authority will work with families to monitor the progress of each participant and to help implement teaching strategies and skills needed to improve children’s reading abilities. Throughout the year the housing authority will host programs and activities to enhance the participants’ reading level.
